Sarit Black
Sarit’s musical career started with a classical background on violin and percussion then later to drums in rock bands throughout her teens. Sarit finally found her niche on bass at 17 years old when she started recording and writing with rock group ‘David R Black’ who she still tours with today. Being self-taught in a three-piece band meant that Sarit has a unique style of playing – combining basic rhythm and incorporating melodies in her bass playing to pad out the guitar parts and counter balance the vocal melodies.
Sarit’s musical influences range from 70’s rock and 90’s grunge – Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Aerosmith to Sigur Ros, David Bowie and Rammstein. Her favourite bass players include: John Paul Jones and Gail-Ann Dorsey, however in recent years she has discovered the likes of Victor Wooten, Larry Graham, Jaco Pastorius and Les Claypool to inspire her with new styles of playing.
As well as working on a tour with ‘David R Black’, Sarit now has a new project ‘DamageScape’ who will be recording their debut album in the next couple of months.
